Online Advising

WHAT IS ONLINE INTERACTIVE ACADEMIC ADVISING (OIAA)?
Sometimes referred to as virtual advising, OIAA enables you to meet with your advisor in real time interactively over the Internet. Instead of coming to campus, you can meet with the advisor at a pre-arranged time from a location that is convenient for you.

HOW DOES OI ACADEMIC ADVISING WORK?
General Studies is currently using Adobe Connect for OIAA. This system allows you to access an academic advisor in real time interactively over the Internet.
You can participate in the session using the Chat Pod, your phone to exchange audio, or you can use your web camera/microphone. During the session you will be able to view documents that the advisor presents and also see the advisor via web cam. You may prefer to use the phone for the audio component since many computers are not set up for this type of meeting and may experience problems with the audio. The advisor will give you a phone number to call at the start of the session.
